Q. What is my name?

A. Hello Everybody! I am very glad to meet you all in this course. My name is Sebin Yang. It may be difficult for you to pronounce, but the sound of my name is pretty similar to 'Say Bean'. If you call me 'Say Bean'ish, I will answer right away. Super Easy!

Q. Where am I from?

A. I am from Seoul, South Korea which is geographically located between China and Japan. Of course, Kim Jung Eun is up there somewhere. When people asked me where I am from, I am sometimes telling them that "I am from a cab." This is because I was born in a cab while my mom was going to the hospital to deliver me. Anyway, I've been living in South Korea 1/3 of my life so it is still difficult to clearly express my thoughts in English. Hopefully, I can develop a lot of writing skills and conversational English through this course.

Q. When did I come to the United States?

A. I came to Charlotte in June, 2012. My fiancé at that time got a job in Charlotte, and he suggested me to move to Charlotte as well. Since I was sick of living in Seoul, (too many people, cars, noisy, karaoke, and bars...) I gladly took his proposal and we got married. Ever since I moved to here, I fell in love with Charlotte because of the very kind people, nice landscapes, and CAROWINDS! Among all of the things I like about Charlotte, my favorite is southern food such as pulled pork, waffle and chicken, and mac and cheese. Yummy!

Q. How old am I?

A. I am 30 years old. Yes, I am a little bit older than most of you. However, my spirit is still young and active, even sometimes very childish. Some people think that I look younger than my age. I used to hate those compliments because I thought "younger looking" equals "not sexy". When I was 24 years old, I was told to bring my parents or guardian to travel from Seattle to Virginia by airplane because the airline employee thought I was a minor?!?!?! However, now I am enjoying hearing that I look younger. I believe that age is just a number, so we all can be friends, right?

Q. What do I do?

A. After I came to the United States, I realized that there are not many options for me to work as a full timer due to language barriers. Therefore, I decided to go back to school to learn a specific skill that can be used in every country. I am taking all prerequisite courses to get into pharmacy school. (UWRT 1101 is one of the courses.) Even though I have a bachelor's degree in French, ironically, I am not good at it. This is because I was a bad student when I was in college. I very much regret that I was busy drinking Korean sake with friends and often skipped my classes. Now, I am a totally transformed full time student at UNCC. I am taking classes very seriously and I am volunteering at one of UNCC’s chemistry research labs right now. I hope we all can succeed in this course and achieve our goals. Cheers!
